FEATHER & SEQUIN the show, review of Daniel Jordan

Before talking about "Feathers & Sequins" or life in the shoes of three drag queens, you should at least know the meaning of this word. Before the widespread use of the English term Drag Queen, in the colloquial language is used this term to refer to any part of theatrical costume of the opposite sex, even outside the music and opera, for example, in idioms like "acting en travesti "or" actor travesti "or" comedy travesti ". The use of "transvestite" was a sudden movement at the beginning of the nineteenth century, Baroque and neo-classical work, you already know in Donizetti's operas, in this case is frankly farcical. In French, means "travesti role" in contrast to English, translated into a pseudo-French travesti, the Italian translation uses the form "disguise" as a masculine noun invariable, with the significance of the role entrusted to actor / singer of the opposite sex compared to the character, the more correct translation is still in disguise. Apart from that, the performance held at the Arena S. Filippo Via Maria Vittoria, 7 in Turin (Italy) entitled feathers & sequins, is a journey across Italy today, the loneliness of three drag queens, joined by a true friendship and true love, between bars in the suburbs, where prejudices are at the doors, closed minds even as an egg, however, be able to arrive at a time in Sicily to make the show with dances and songs. The performances are always accompanied by an irresistible self-deprecating humor, never vulgar. Declared inability to take itself seriously in spite of the obvious skills that make an evening a memorable experience, openly launched a profound message for those not willing to have a mental vision of this still open marginalized world inexorably moves forward with their demands. The cast are almost singing with a lip that rivals La La Mc. Callan, is the diva "travesty" that sing live, a rarity in show business, Paul Mazzini plays the role of Margot, Matthew White and those of Audrey Simone Faraon those of the Guild. Continuing, Frederick Gentle (Alfredo), the good and relaxed Late Valeria (the kinesin Cinthia), Michela Dolovich (Rachel), Agostinelli Rebecca is Rebecca, the daughter of Audrey and Rachel's role is not easy for a child, but that puts the ' accent and ends this circle still too closed. Good choreographers: Giorgia Zambrini (also takes care of the trick), Fabrizio Rago, Gioia Rare, Emmanuel Nifosi 'Benincasa and Pamela with their dance moves have made the show even more enjoyable. The costume designer Monica Cafiero shows a wardrobe of elegant costumes designed specifically for the original show. The production designer is Sara Migliorini, Cristina Mantelli Francesco Currenti, Alessandro Moro lights: Carola Benedetti, and finally the music is by Francesco D'Alessio of the RTA movie (also directed by), Emmanuel Nifosi '. Welcome then to the world of "Feathers & Sequins" the show that is not a musical, but it might be, the bill for more than six years, with an exhibition and a concept of entertainment than two hundred years old, but does not show! United by a destiny that will go well beyond the feathers and sequins of their costumes. Sure ... cha ... with a twist, but also good feelings and a lot to say ...

A SIMPLE THANKS Open Letter from Daniel Jordan

And 'common knowledge about what has happened and continues inexorably to strike with heavy cuts due to the crisis that has affected not only our country. Inevitably, it happens, the ax as it was guillotined Culture, at the expense of those who make culture. Almost useless demonstrations are served! The word "culture" now exists only in the dictionary of the Italian language, designed to interest a few. So you think right-thinking people assume that somehow they decided on that word deliberately and dramatically, pretending to ignore the reality and the people who work and live culture! Those self-righteous claim that somewhere they were going to begin to reduce government spending! In return, however, will send some big events for the good of all calm, in short, the classic sweet after the bitter medicine. As if all this were not enough, it took even the rainfall to make life even more difficult the work of employees, losing those few expected receipts. By virtue of the word "culture" that now knows the vocabulary and, in spite of the rain falls from the sky, creating many economic disasters, the associations operating in our country have demonstrated their selflessness, to once again be the center of gravity, fixed point for citizens, while offering cultural events or entertainment events. The estimated turnout in spite of the presence of these bottlenecks appear clear. Of course, more voiced gratitude, when it comes to associations, means to those who do not receive any contribution or rather, perhaps getting a "miserable allowance" with which they can not even offer a frugal meal for artists. In return, they provide performances worthy of the name, in accordance with the so-called word called CULTURE.
Equally easy and without too much suffering if it rains or is made "cuts" provided a contribution to those events, here you do not want to bring examples of who has and has not seen, certainly some with pitiful results, there is a phrase circumstance that might fit: Margheritas ante Porcos! This script is a calendar, every year sacred is perpetuated at the expense of the Associations. In light of these facts, it seemed quite natural to write a few lines of these associations, bringing to the fore the public, not because they are known, however, was the least we could do for them. In this regard, perhaps, suppose that none of the public has never occurred to him to congratulate the pages of newspapers on the work of these people that somehow enliven the evenings for them, making them feel less alone or as an evening in the company among the people, even socializing. The effort that these associations take on every day of the year, making the commitment and professionalism available to users, Culture, bar none, with their performances very pleasant not only during the summer, but every day of 'year, this is not for everybody. So this time earned the applause and shrill, it is not intended as usual to the actors at the end of play, but to them, the effort to assume that these associations with pleasant performances, mainly at the associations that operate "gratia et amore Dei" and continue to maintain a commitment to the unwritten, but moral culture, so that the word can get back to being for the benefit of all, provided this is supported by a serious contribution. Of them, offer free or popular shows for an audience increasingly numerical prevalence, eager to these small but effective events, despite the expensive kind, maybe yes nice to people, but to the detriment of small and medium-sized associations.

A simple thank you, but of the heart!

ALWAYS RAIN RAIN, But Not All It 'Lost review of Daniel Jordan

Turin, with its outdoor evening events, full to the point that one does not know what to choose among the proposals listed in the city or out of town. That evening, though the rain continued to give no respite, I happened by chance to enter the Arena S. Philip, also known as COURTYARD sera. The rain was incessant, but the mood that prevailed in the shelter of the hallway of the courtyard was jovial. No GP present on what was happening outside the walls were there to not know what to expect, unfortunately the show described by the billboard, was nearly missed were it not for the daring readiness Elena Cortese, of course, with the quiet approval from plaintiff came from afar to perform in this very rainy night inviting him to continue in the only shelter that would offer the Courtyard. Ipso had our good actor, dressed in clothes of the Hero of Two Worlds, began his monologue titled: Grapefruit Livio is pregnant at the party. A history of Garibaldi "true" narrated by actor Mauro Gasparini, that over the showers that raged incessantly dell'acquazzone got the worthy praise of the audience, asking him making a play even a few songs of his book. Ironically, writing an actor should never let "dry" his audience, that is, decline the invitation previously. Him worthily and with great skill but he did not have a stage but a well-deserved public shared and appreciated and followed his monologue. As always, even in the unlikely event that there is always the flip side, that is, the less beautiful, referring to the 4 Tunes also came to perform, unfortunately could not give a pleasant sound with their performance at the close of the evening, for obvious reasons, so to speak: of time, always ironically.

Luigi Pirandello MOVES review by Daniel Jordan

He has never seen the actors on stage while the audience lounged held the post room before acting. It 'happened at the Teatro Gobetti of Turin (Italy), this left people puzzled politely like a script for those who are suited to attend a theatrical performance! They, the players undeterred and regardless of what happened in the audience, continued to make their comfortable! Whereas those present, thought of watching a work of Luigi Pirandello, not a comedy to laugh, or see any on stage three wandering wasting time! Should the director, so he understood the reason for their insolence, was due to the fact that it was late, understandably without the presence of him who runs, the actors do go wild. The author of the text, presenting a paper in his hand and said to the authoritative voice actors to read it. The public, as always attentive knew at once that the staging of the comedy: YOU DON GIOVANNI IN SEARCH OF COPYRIGHT had long begun. The text and is directed by Paolo Vettori, who, with meticulous research has produced an unfinished work by Pirandello, having only a few fragments scattered here and there, staged for the National Festival of Luigi Pirandello, with a result that would made sure pleasure. The actors who take part in this swirl of characters are: The talented Warriors Stefano, was able to give proper emphasis to its transformation with fair balance, where each individual viewer felt the vibrations emitted from him. Not least is Laura Ferrero and Elijah Blue Bongiorno. The production of Languedoc.
THE GREEN HOUSE ANGLE Below, the text of Luke Borgia, with the interpreter and Michael Luke Guaraldo Busnengo offer readings from the works of Pirandello's play is always, do not surround a corollary, the musicians Enrico De Palmas with its harmonious and nice guitar, and the adorable, sweet, melodious sound coming from the flute was produced by Rebecca Viora. The production S P O, Workshop for the scene.
And this closes the acting of Luigi Pirandello's theater festival National Gobetti of Turin (Italy) to continue the 15/07 to 14/07 in Giaveno Coazze, on 21/07 at Valgioie, shows start at 21: 00. Paying tribute to Luigi Pirandello, who stayed for a short period of Coazze that, in the Province of Turin (Italy), where he generously in his notebook only fifty pages, recently rediscovered, pinned news or common people of the place, whatever was reported as if it were a diary. These notes, at least in part gave rise to what we feel fond of comedies. The director and director of the festival in its fifth year, Julius Graglia tried despite the cuts to culture to build a course that addressed Italy look to our best yet, the memory of our territory, embracing Sicily and Piedmont, hosting prominent artists without leaving aside the young people that although young people demonstrate their resolve on the stage in the theater, producing and investing on them with no little effort, but show a lot of satisfaction sewing Balasso Natalino.

AND' IS IT SERIOUS? review of Daniel Jordan

This title is left to the imagination as the main theme of which Sergio Tofano IL BEL CECE' was inspired with the beautiful Bonaventure to the character, certainly a hilarious comedy, sought in the set, lights and music, the actors under the expert hand of Julius could only Graglia give the dramatic effect the director intended with the appreciation generated by the public come to the Teatro Gobetti of Turin for the festival Pirandello. Only one thing is puzzling, this question ... the title itself is a very serious matter and the actor is the main Natalino Balasso can only be fun, excellent interpretation.

La Cage Aux Folles review of Daniel Jordan

Last night there was the pre-show "Feathers, sequins and stilettos" taken from the remaking of an American film entitled "The Birdcage" whose roles were covered by Robin Williams and Nathan Lane. Despite the rain the previous day, continues with its evening events, the festival courtyard of Sera sponsored by Associated Artists Thirty Paul. The play in question is hilarious, though still a subject supports open discussion not only on the scene, but is treated with discretion by the actors so much so that the audience appreciated and enjoyed even more certainty. In this "cage crazy" Roberto Carelli stars as Georges and Albin Roberto Briatta ones, followed by Antonio Cardinali, Laura Baldassari,Lorenzo Brugo, Gianpiero Fusco, Sabrina Vivalda, Nelson Barboni, Rita Sacchetti, Monsieur Languedoc, Antonio Strollo, Umberto Biagini, Ursino Adriana, Sabrina Lucarelli has demonstrated their ability and stage of expression, not an easy role to play for in the text of the play is pregnant until the end. The effects of light are Peter Striano, Daniela Rostirolla for the costumes, the staging is curated by Elena Cortese. Replicates this evening.

Street Artists! review of Daniel Jordan

And 'possible to combine two similar but divided against each other comedies? And 'possible to combine two or more dissimilar drama if not for a common factor? We're talking about theater! Questions that seem simple, but complicated in the execution to make them understandable to all audiences. There are different ways to stage theatrical compositions, one of them is the circus arts. So here we go again with the questions, how can the circus with its jugglers, acrobats, and so on and so forth ... we stop here because the list is not long, but infinite. We were saying how it can enter into a drama William Shakespeare with the circus? Shakespeare would have said: this is the problem! Strangely, the House Maluf with its artists: Annaluce Marchione, Fabio Turini, John Fiore, Jean Pierre Tateo, Lucia Fusina, Frau Matthew had the idea to unite the lovers of classic and dutiful children to this combination of level of writing stage with great skill and professionalism. The artists, from different formations have not tried to stage something, but linked with extreme authority, without boring the audience, joining stage performances, particularly the death of Ophelia and Juliet was one found only the symbolism of their death , W. S. Perhaps you would congratulate you all and, as he put it: We're the same substance of which dreams are made of! A show not to be missed, different in kind. It is good to get the reviewers in the comment written in first person, this is the first time for me. The artist, in the shows usually puts body and soul, trying to satisfy the public intervened at times we can not always to the end, but it is certainly not in this case, talk show AMBRETO MALEFICENT, for him there is as important if the input is a fee or donation, for a fact that helps artists to survive, in return for your fun and make you forget all your troubles ... but look at the beauty in their eyes after the performance, when they start the applause, especially when someone in the audience approached him and congratulated personally ... are eyes full of joyfulness, maybe try to go behind the scenes ... complimenting. It certainly will be the biggest reward of an artist ... do you too. Ending, these are called: Street Artists!

DELIRIUM FOR TWO review of Daniel Jordan

One room, two people, urban warfare, perhaps, ingredients for the show staged in the calendar of the review COURTYARD NIGHT, by Paul Trenta Associated Artists Group, the show DELIRIUM FOR TWO, is one of the minor works of Eugene Ionesco , along with Beckett and Adamov revolutionized French drama with the New Theatre, better known as Theatre of the Absurd, taking the name coined by the critic Martin Esslin, in the fifties, is enclosed with it a philosophical notion of absurdity of existence. The protagonists of the play Darius Amateis and Elizabeth Rubino, although the text can at times seem tedious, they have succeeded with their nonsensical dialogue (wanted by the script) has demonstrated their ability by lightening the narrative effect. The drama tells of a couple locked in the home, shaken by tremors of grenades, unspecified steps squads that roam up and down the stairs, providing another argument between the two. The sounds of gunfire echoing off the road does not seem the least bit of interest to our players except for rimbeccarsi. It 'a continuous war of words with nonsense, petty quarrels, emphasizing the fact of infertility tired of loving relationship, marking strongly conditions of abnormality and the lack of contact with the outside world. The room is, therefore, the environment, the reality that surrounds our characters. Individual loneliness and isolation, difficulty communicating with others, the absolute lack of ability of the two to leave a tangible sign of their existence and their function in the world. A dialectical confrontation and absurd, grotesque, ridiculous comedy that makes a masterpiece of Eugene Ionesco's theater of the absurd in which: lack of communication, anger, shallowness reign supreme without any solution, where even death becomes an opportunity to reflect on what to do is happening, leaving the viewer of the show is not indifferent, in this case a purely reflective, with no solution to the problems.
Directed attention to detail is the work of Mary Grace Solano proposing the original version, made using small sets is essential, as too absurd to take part in the world!
