Angelina Merlin, the youth of today may say little ... but their grandparents
... a lot! We are talking about back in 1958. His name is closely linked to the
establishment of an Italian law dated 20 February 1958, namely the n. 75. The
Merlin could not tolerate the hypocrisy of the current morality, especially
heads of family religious and observant, they could not find any contradiction
between their principles and attend prostitutes, which often had the
consequence of infecting their wives with venereal disease by going to the
"case closed" (so called because the blinds always lowered to protect
the privacy and morality) or brothels. This is history. These alcoves were
considered the place where young people, made eighteen years of age, could
"experience" because at that time, the girls "marriageable"
was not allowed to have sex before marriage, but some careless transgressed. In
Turin, one of those mentioned - houses - and the most famous, was Bob, located
in Barbaroux, a downtown street. This, however, was real life. We began this
review in this way to introduce (so to speak) in the house perhaps among the
most "noble than those closed" through it, the theater company -
Barbarian Invaders - staged at the Teatro di Torino Herald comedy: The Bob Via
Barbaroux, a show that tells important moments of this brothel, weaving stories
very picturesque and probable consumed in the day that preceded the entry into
force of the Act Merlin, putting a stop to all the "ladies tenants"
of the house and their prostitution. From this split off out characters who up
to that moment had a certain future, each with its own task: Maitresse or the
madam of the house, the tenants or ... well you get it, the Handyman, the only
man in the house. Suddenly all those people because of that law, who was struck
"the job" having to reinvent a new life centered in love blossomed
during - profession - flattering promises and disappointments of love, the fact
is that the theater company Barbarian Invaders , for years offered the show
received favorable reviews from the public. Directed and historical research
are Walter Revello, in the role of assistant chief (Vittorio Barbero), with
Massimo Chionetti (Beppe), Patrizia Schneeberger (Wanda), Giulia Berto (Gina),
Annamaria Pasquinelli (Maria Barbero), Anna Fantozzi ( Rosa), Martina
Tinnirello (Tweety), Valentina Mortara (Mariuccia), Angelica Tafuro (Mariella),
Victor Lord (Peter Agostinelli), Elena Fox (Elga). The actors, have
demonstrated skill in identifying with the part assigned, a note should be
added in favor of meritorious Annamaria Pasquinelli, which can emphasize its
character making it true. This theme addressed in the comedy continues at a
later date to be controversial, so much so that some people raise the question
whether it was useful to pass the law to suppress the famous houses,
considering the reality of today.
