THE HOUSEBOYS Scenic Scripture. Review of Daniel Jordan


The issue of homosexuality is recurring, especially as ever in this period, but the solutions are still far away! It is this that we are going to review, but a theatrical version of the film loosely based on the screenplay "The Houseboy" brought on cinema screens and in international festivals gay, until landing at the Florence Festival Queen in 2009. The play begins at Christmas time. A couple Simon and Dominic (two declared homosexuals), under the pretext of going to spend the holiday season from their parents, they are arguing about how to get rid of Ricky, their roommate or rather, their toy, so to speak. He likes to live with the couple and participate in effusions in three, not only under one roof (or rather under the same sheets) unintentionally Richy, hears the conversation between the two. And 'one of those young men called houseboys to simplify are guys who are keeping in exchange for household chores and sexual performance. A reality hidden but widespread among young people. Richy is a young man who loves with feeling, not for the money it receives, giving love to the couple, this would be enough to him, you feel part of a family integrates, feeling satisfied. More than disposable toy belonged to the two joint, is a victim of the system that spares no one, disowned by his mother who agrees and accepts his being. Do you feel frustrated to the point that the only desire would be to call it quits. He can not stand the idea of being thrown away like a rag, to live a life without gratitude after the love given to them. He feels abandoned by those who love pure as he handed out by dividing it into equal parts in both, as you let go wreck adrift. Sinking into a cheating no return, being at the mercy of drugged people and perverse violence against them, unscrupulous individuals, men who can not love, only to satisfy their primal desire, sometimes they do not know well or do not even men also just, enduring the weight of a heavy cross to bear in the silence of his solitude because of his infected blood, for not having protected the contact. A story based on real concepts prehistoric despite never appropriate to step over time and by people with narrow-mindedness. The show even a hard stage, it does not transcend the ever recklessness of the theme. The director Max Shank, in dealing with the topic never falls into vulgarity but highlights the strong colors of the social problem, simply paint the human side that comes out of the characters, describing them widely. The protagonist Antonio Spring, expresses his person all the essence that comes from the narrative, as well as for the rest of the cast, Francesco Napoli, Valerio Ameli, Peter Calabrese, Jacopo Guidoni, borrowed from the company Thealtro, Massimo Chionetti; participation of Regina Miami in the role of mother and her natal natalina assistant, played by Christmas Calabrò makes the staging pleasant, making the viewer think! The past performances have been in Milan, Rome, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Now premiered in Turin at the Teatro Herald.
